Six years ago the Holy Spirit asked me, “What if church was a pool party?” Imagine if the church was a place of refreshing, joy, and celebration — a place where each person may be at a different depth, but all are enjoying the experience and growing together. Imagine every person swimming and splashing in the wonderful waves of Living Water. What if church was a pool party? Since we started Wellspring in 2017, the Holy Spirit’s question has been continually in my thoughts, prayers, strategies, and actions.
This morning as I sat outside and talked to God, I was again contemplating this question and what it could look like for our new meetings and space. But Holy Spirit surprised me. He said, “It’s time to move from pool party to swim team.” We need to shift our paradigm for this next season, and it’s going to require a higher level of intentionality, focus, and self-discipline.

It’s time to shift from looking at the church as recreation, and instead begin to take seriously our Kingdom occupation. I’ve heard many people quote Jesus saying, “Occupy till I come.” This is the King James Version of Luke 19:13. The original Greek says, “Do business until I come back.” Until the King returns, be about the King’s business.
What does it look like in your life to do the King’s business? How are you doing the King’s business in your home? In your workplace? In your school? With your family and friends? With your finances, talents, gifts, and passions? How are you growing in your Kingdom occupation?
