Today I had lunch with a fellow pastor and he mentioned praying for a member who was really struggling with an oppressive voice in his head. The voice was continually telling him to give up and to quit, and that he was failing and it was time to throw in the towel. The pastor said he prayed for the man, but then found himself struggling with these same discouraging voices over the past week. Does this sound familiar?

Guess what… It’s not you. It’s not your thoughts. It’s actually a foul, toxic attempt to squelch the rising Kingdom in the Metroplex. This thing is similar to chemical warfare but it’s actually spiritual warfare, and it’s very significant that this attack is taking place as we approach Pentecost weekend. A fresh Pentecost, outpouring of Holy Spirit, is the answer, a powerful wind of God. When you are somewhere with toxic air, you don’t want to open your mouth. But now is precisely the time for the Church to open its mouth and profess the wind.

During the Thursday night prayer meeting last week, I saw a yellow toxic gas rolling as a spreading smog across a battlefield. The enemy is attempting to sedate and poison the people of this region. This gas is a mix of depression, despair, exhaustion, and resignation. It makes people want to leave, hide, and medicate. Now is the time for Kingdom agents to speak the wind, “Come!”

Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.

Acts 2:2 NLT

Pneuma, the Greek word for spirit, actually means wind or breath. The Lord moves on “the wings of the wind” (2 Samuel 22:11, Psalm 18:10, Psalm 10:3). His way is whirlwind and storm (Nahum 1:3) and He answers out of the whirlwind (Job 38:1). He comes like a rushing stream which the wind of the Lord drives (Isaiah 59:19).

Over these next few days leading up to Pentecost (May 28th), believers all over the world are praying and believing for a fresh outpouring of Holy Spirit. Let’s partner in faith and pray the wind of heaven to blow over us and the Metroplex. This Holy Spirit wind will sweep away the oppressive smog of the enemy and will invigorate and empower the Church. In faith open your sails, call forth the wind, and brace yourself for His mighty move.

Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds, son of man. Speak a prophetic message and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, O breathe, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.’”

Ezekiel 37:9 NLT

Rise up! Activate your faith and declare to the winds, “Come! Breathe across this Metroplex and make it live again!”

Blow, Holy Spirit!
