Last night I popped out of sleep with the word “WHOLINESS” like a billboard across my mind in all caps. You may not have guessed from my writing, but one of my college majors was English so I’m very aware that “wholiness” is not a word. I knew when I saw it that the Lord was combining holiness with wholeness. The best description of heavenly whole is nothing missing, nothing broken, absence of chaos. Holiness is separated, dedicated, and devoted to the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ is LOUDLY and CLEARLY calling His body (the church) to living HOLY and WHOLE in order to be His transformational agents on this earth.

97% of the water on the planet is salty. This is because rivers and streams around the world pick up minerals, sediment, and junk and then dump it all in the seas and oceans. This is what natural rivers do, and this is what natural people do to their cultures and communities. Kingdom rivers are not junk conveyors.

And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.

Ezekiel 47:9 [English Standard Version]

Kingdom rivers deliver fresh water, and they miraculously transform the seas into fresh water. You don’t have to be a sediment conveyor, and in fact you were designed to carry life and transform the atmosphere that you flow into. Kingdom Agents carry transformational life. To learn more about this, watch my message from this past Sunday, Fresh Water.

If we are going to transform the massively corrupt world around us (which I believe is the Lord’s desire for His church right now in this divinely-strategic kairos moment), we the gathering children of the Kingdom must be intentional about living holy and whole. It is our WHOLINESS that makes us fresh water to the Dead Sea of our present world culture. This WHOLINESS flows from our King Messiah Jesus, Son of the Living God. It flows from His sacred seat of crucifixion, death, resurrection, and ascension, and it continues in our devoted love relationship to Him and His ministry.

May 5th is the National Day of Prayer. Join your fellow Kingdom agents all over this nation as we dedicate the day to praying for our constitutional republic. Remember the covenant relationship with God on which this nation was founded, and let’s intercede for His goodness, blessing, righteousness, and justice to return. Also, continue praying for the Supreme Court judges who are already facing attacks for their commitment to ending Roe V Wade. God is doing amazing and miraculous things among us right now and His desire is to increase His presence. Will we partner with Him in WHOLINESS?

Be holy and whole!
Matt

DAILY WORD FOR May 4

The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed. “He saved others,” they said, “let him save himself if he is really God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

Luke 23:35 [New Living Translation]

From the sinful human perspective, the purpose of power is to benefit the one with the power. If you’re strong defend yourself. If you’re talented promote yourself. If you’re successful treat yourself. If you’re an “influencer” use your influence to benefit yourself. To Jesus they said, “If You are the Savior save yourself.” This world paints a facade of benevolence and concern for the “common good”, but the rotting wood under the paint and the cancerous face under the thick makeup is still selfishness, rebellion, and dead works.

Jesus demonstrated pure agape, God-like love. It is eternal, therefore it’s not afraid of extinction. It is divine, therefore it does not require human affirmation. It is unfailing, victorious, and indomitable, therefore it needs no defense. It is unlimited, therefore it can never run out or be overextended. It is completely selfless in its worldview, intentions, and motives, therefore it gives everything for others. The purpose of power, strength, talent, success, and influence in this passing world is to save, not ourselves but others.

Jesus really is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One. And He put God’s love on full display as He gave everything for us, the very people who rejected and rebelled against Him. Lord, make us like You. Transform us completely so that we love like You, expelling selfishness completely from our operating system. Thank You, Jesus, that You did everything necessary for our complete and perfect salvation. Holy Spirit, continue leading us and teaching us all truth. Reveal the mind of Christ to us that we may operate according to the heart of the Father. We want to give as we’ve received. We want to love like You love. Such mysterious, awesome, and wonderful love!
