Have you ever driven a car with manual transmission? I’ve always had an automatic so I’ve never had to use a stick shift, but twice in my life I decided that I wanted to learn how to do it. Both times are seared in my memory because of the frustration I felt. If you’ve spent your whole life driving automatic, there are things you’ve never had to think about, there are movements you’ve never had to make, and there are timings and rhythms that you’ve never had to consider. If you’ve driven automatic, shifting requires you to operate mentally and physically in ways you never have before.

Mid-February the Lord started speaking the word “shift”. He said that we are entering a shift season. There are many parts moving in harmony with one another and in synchronicity with God’s timing, and this shift season is going to move us into another higher gear.

Research and meditate on what takes place in the engine right before you shift up, during the shift, and after the shift. The engine starts getting loud and working hard right before the shift; but in that place between gears, there is a lot of timed movement and it feels like the engine goes briefly quiet as it rides between death and acceleration. Suddenly you click into the higher gear and the engine isn’t working as hard, the driver isn’t working as hard, and the car is flying at a higher speed. In the shift (that in-between place) everything depends on right movements and right timing. In that shuttering moment, the whole car could potentially die or advance. Keys in the shift are right timing and right doing.

From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.

1 Chronicles 12:32 [New Living Translation]

This morning I had three statements come to me that had the word “shift” in them. First I saw in the news a quote from Joe Biden. While speaking to a lobbying organization, he announced, “Now is a time when things are shifting. We’re going to — there’s going to be a new world order out there, and we’ve got to lead it. And we’ve got to unite the rest of the free world in doing it.” Immediately after I saw that, I received an email from the Tim Wildmon, the president of the American Family Association, “The ground is shifting rapidly beneath us. Take a mental survey in the coming weeks and note how much our culture is obsessed with sex, self, and the tearing down of every ideal that once held together our great nation.” And then my wife walked in the room, saying that she just received an email from one of the teacher associations talking about a coming great shift. Public school districts around the country are expecting up to 60% of their teachers to not renew their contracts. Our government leaders are saying, “Shift.” Our religious leaders are saying, “Shift.” Our educational leaders are saying, “Shift.”

They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

Psalm 82:5 [English Standard Version]

The shift season is upon us. Are you a son or daughter of Issachar, a person trained and prepared for the shift? Do you understand the timing and do you know what must be done?

God is saying, “SHIFT!!!”

Debbie Countryman spoke this previous Sunday about shifting our beliefs (click here to watch the video). This coming Sunday I’ll be sharing an important dream the Lord gave me last week and about the Issachar ministry that we’re being called into right now. Then April 1-2 we’ll have Monte and Hugh Bromiley, the founders of Beth Shalom Freedom Ministry, joining us for a special weekend we’re calling “Hardcore Freedom”. This will not be an introduction to the freedom ministry that is an essential part of Wellspring’s foundation. They will not be speaking on freedom basics or on the ministry’s processes. We’re inviting them to be completely honest in sharing their real ministry experiences and Biblical revelations regarding current events. This not going to be for the easily offended and politically correct. We want truth because truth sets us free. Whoever thought that truth would be considered hardcore in the United States? Yet here we are.

Get ready to shift!

DAILY WORD FOR MARCH 23

Aaron saw how excited the people were, so he built an altar in front of the calf. Then he announced, “Tomorrow will be a festival to the Lord!”

Exodus 32:5 [New Living Translation]

Moses was on the mountain meeting with God, who was giving him very clear and specific directions on how the people should worship Him. At the same time, the people were tired of waiting for Moses and God, so they told Aaron to make idols for them. They wanted worship to be familiar, to be like what they’d known before, something they could form and touch and control. They wanted to revel and be entertained like the Egyptians and the other nations around them. The people really had no interest in this personal God who wanted to intimately lead them like a Father. They wanted to form their God, not be formed by Him.

This story repeats itself throughout history, even to this day. God intervenes among His children and He shows up in an extraordinary way, drawing His children into intimacy with Him so that He can fill them up and have an abiding relationship. But at some point, a group will push for things to become more familiar, more entertaining, more controllable, less spiritual and more fleshly. When leaders respond to their “suggestions” and see their enthusiasm, they often get distracted by the accompanying human affirmation, and the new thing God had initiated starts looking more and more like the old thing that at its best was a powerless distraction.

Let’s not lose patience in seeking the Lord’s way. Persevere in faith and obedience, trusting Him in the process. How long will you give Him to transform you into a new wineskin and fill you with new wine? Together let’s keep pursuing intimacy with our Father God and let’s commit to rejecting the familiar voice of old religion.
