Destroying the Destroyer

Our Miraculous Antidote

Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV — But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭24‬ ‭ESV — He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Isaiah writes “with his wounds we ARE healed”. Over 700 years later, after Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension, Peter writes “By his wounds you HAVE BEEN healed.” Through communion with Christ (His broken body and His shed blood) we are and have been healed. This healing is wholistic, bringing us into rightness in our spirit, mind, will, emotions, body, relationships, and everything about us. His chastisement brought us peace, the Hebrew word “shalom”. Shalom is completeness, wholeness, soundness, welfare, safety, tranquillity, right relationships.

Notice that both Isaiah and Peter connect sin and sickness. When the devil brought sin into the earth, he brought with it spiritual and physical corruption. Sin is like a demonic factory pumping thick polluted smog into the atmosphere and pouring out foul poison into the waters. It saturates everything and everyone with radioactive fallout, causing every kind of sickness and disease.

The devil is a villain whose sole intention is destroying every aspect of creation that resembles heaven. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus comes to abundantly provide life (John 10:10). The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). The Lord is not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ is our victorious antidote, and God wants everyone to turn from corruption and receive this miraculous antidote. Receive Christ Jesus and be restored to Father and the Kingdom of Heaven. Receive the holy antidote that destroys all of the polluting activity of the devil and heals all our afflictions. Receive your whole salvation!

Psalm‬ ‭103‬:‭2‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV - Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
