In Luke 1:26-55, we see the story of the Virgin Mary conceiving Jesus. An angel meets with her and declares the word of the Lord, and she receives that word in faith. In verse 35, the angel says to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.” And then in verse 38, Mary responds, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” Later her cousin Elizabeth says to Mary (verse 45), “And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
“…you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God“
1 Peter 1:23 ESV
The word of God is divine, eternal seed. When it finds a ready heart of faith, the two conceive life. Jesus existed as the Word of God, but He became flesh in Mary’s womb of faith. John 1:14 (ESV) says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” God is always looking for a ready heart to be a womb of faith for His word.
Word + Faith = Miracle
Miracle/Conception —> Hope/Pregnancy —> Manifestation/Birth
The WORD is a Kingdom seed. When received in FAITH, the MIRACLE is done. There is a time of HOPE [pregnancy] followed by MANIFESTATION [birth], but the MIRACLE took place at the moment WORD and FAITH came into union [conception].
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1 ESV
“Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”
Romans 8:24b-25 ESV
Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” The word of God is essential in our lives. It is the seed of conception. We may long for a miracle, but there can be no miracle without His word. When we spend time reading, studying, and meditating on His word, we’re not doing it out of routine. We first prepare our hearts to be wombs of faith. Then our time in His word becomes sweet, beautiful, invigorating intimacy with the Almighty Creator God of the Universe.
When we prophesy over one another we are professing the word of God. One person speaks the word, the other receives the word in faith, and a miracle is immediately conceived. There may be a time of gestation, and that’s the season of hope. This is a time of encouraging one another to remain hopeful. In the right moment, your miracle will be birthed.
Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” A direct translation of Proverbs 13:12 would be: “Hope deferred makes sick the heart, but when it is a tree of life the desire comes.” Perspective is very important in the time of hope. If we hold tightly to the belief that the miracle is a living seed growing into a tree, we will see the tree. The seed is planted, the tree is alive, patiently wait. And stay deeply rooted in Jesus! He is the life and the source of your hope. He is the true Tree of Life.
In the Passion Translation, Colossians 3:24 says, “For we know that we will receive a reward, an inheritance from the Lord, as we serve the Lord Yahweh, the Anointed One!” We know that we will receive a reward. We KNOW we WILL RECEIVE. We remain confident. Faith is BELIEVING that God REWARDS those who seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
Sometimes the gestation period takes longer than we’d like. This is also why the prophetic is important. It comforts through the waiting and keeps hearts from getting sick. 1 Corinthians 14:3 says, “the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.” A prophetic word consoles. It calms distress, relieves grief, instills quiet confidence, soothes aching hearts, and steadies the faint-hearted. It gently and tenderly guards the heart from sickness and strengthens hope.
“being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy”
Colossians 1:11 ESV
To prophesy is to be a conduit of God’s power in order to strengthen others. And that strengthening is for joyful endurance and patience —hope! Strengthen hope for the miracle is conceived and will be birthed!
“…through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4b ESV
No one is meant to go through pregnancy alone. We need others prophesying over us during this season of hope. We need our hope strengthened. Is there a promise you really believed was from God but it’s taking longer to manifest than you expected? Have you lost your joy in the waiting period? Is hope turning to sickness in your heart? Get into a community that will speak scriptures as prophetic encouragement over you.
And activate your faith in preparation. When others speak over you, be like Mary. Say, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to Your word.” And allow Elizabeth’s description of Mary to also describe you, “Blessed are you who believes that there will be a fulfillment of what is spoken to you from the Lord.”
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV
