G is for giants, and giants are for me!

“Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them.”
— Numbers 14:9 ESV

How could you fail to experience God’s promise? The enemy has gone ahead of you and planted giants in your promise, intending to intimidate and discourage you from stepping into God’s design for your life. This is a test of your faith. The Israelites saw the giants and in their lack of faith in God and their insecurity in their identity, they considered themselves grasshoppers. They refused to listen to Caleb, who full of faith declared that the giants were their bread. Are you a grasshopper or a giant-eater? Have faith and advance.

45 years later, when all of the Israelites who lacked faith had died out in the wilderness and Caleb was 85 years old, he pointed at Kiriath Arba (a city founded and named after the father of giants, Arba), and Caleb said, “Give me that one.” Go big or go home. Even at 85, he saw the giants as his bread and he was going for the biggest loaf.

When young David killed Goliath, the enemy’s giant champion, he inspired those around him with courage and hope. The giants seemed unbeatable until one was taken down by the faith of a shepherd boy. Then suddenly everyone wanted a trophy giant. David the giant killer found himself surrounded by fellow giant killers. He ruled a house of mighty men and it was giant hunting season.

Jesus invites you to be one of His “mighty men”. As a member of His household, you are one of His great ones, sitting at His table surrounded by trophies of defeated foes. Do not allow the deceiver to steal your identity. Do not allow the thief to touch your trophies. Arise mighty and victorious sons and daughters! The giant standing between you and your promise may seem huge and powerful, but he’s just a truck stop snack for those who know the greatness of Father God and who know their identity as children of God.

In Matthew 6, Jesus gives His disciples a basic outline for prayer, and one of His prayer statements is, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Notice that Jesus didn’t make this statement a request. He didn’t even say please. Actually, there is no asking in this prayer. It’s all faith decrees.

Jesus said, “Give us.” Provider, provide. Give me my bread. Give me my sustenance. Give me my Jesus. In Mark 7:27, Jesus refers to healing and deliverance as the children’s bread. Give me my healing and deliverance. Give him his healing. Give her her deliverance. He provides; we receive and distribute. For Caleb the giants were his bread. Give me my giants.
