All In & All After

Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:31-32 LEB

What does it mean to be a disciple? When Jesus made this statement, what did being a disciple look like? Do you think Jesus intended for today’s discipleship to be the same as the discipleship that He illustrated with His life?

Disciples are fully surrendered followers on a mission to become like the one they follow. Disciple means “learner”. Disciples are on the mission of knowing and becoming.

Jesus perfectly demonstrates what it means to be a disciple. He says (John 8:29), “And the One who sent Me is with Me. He has not left Me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.” The disciple remains with the One all day every day, observing, listening, and doing in order to fully become like the One. Jesus always does the things that are pleasing to the Father because the Father is His One, and the pleasure of the One is the pleasure of the disciple. Is Jesus your One?

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20 LEB

We are to be disciples and we are to make disciples. Disciples are completely immersed (baptized) in the identity of Yahweh (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and intentionally set on observing (seeing and doing) all of Jesus’ instructions. We are ALL IN and ALL AFTER Jesus Christ.

Jesus replied to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. And the slave does not remain in the household forever; the son remains forever. So if the son sets you free, you will be truly free.”

John 8:34-36 LEB

Such complete surrender is liberation. Jesus is the Son of God and He is the Truth. Know the Truth and the Truth will set you free. If the Son sets you free, you are truly free. If you continue in His word you are truly His disciple, and you will know Him and He will set you free. Go ALL IN and ALL AFTER!
