The Lying Lion

“I am also a prophet like you…” He lied to him.

1 Kings‬ ‭13‬:‭18‬

In 1 Kings‬ ‭13‬ a prophet from Judaea was given a message from God to deliver to Samaria, along very clear directions, “Don’t consume anything from the Samaria, and don’t leave the way you came.” Another prophet came along and told the first prophet that he had an opposite message from God. 1 Kings 13:18 says this second prophet lied. The first prophet listened to the second prophet’s lie instead of remaining firm in the word of the Lord, and a lion killed the first prophet.

Jesus called the devil a murderer and the father of lies (John 8:44). He lies, and uses those who will partner with his lies, to get people to trespass. If we will trespass, we become vulnerable to the murderer. He prowls around the boundaries like a lion, looking to devour trespassers (1 Peter 5:8). As much as we would love for the Lord to give us all of the reasons behind His directions, our act of faith and obedience is to do as He says. His directions set our boundaries. When we disobey, we cross His boundaries and trespass.

False prophets partner with false spirits (1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬) —not false as in nonexistent but false as in lying. And the purpose of the lies is to cause and encourage trespass. Be sober in your discernment and alert to deception.  Resist the devil and remain steadfast in your faith. You should be neither afraid nor ignorant of the lying lion. Recognize the lies and hold tightly to the goodness of Your loving Father God. Wrap your faith around Jesus (Yeshua = Yahweh Saves), the personification of truth, and remain blessed in the boundaries of His word.

Yahweh is the portion which is my share and my cup. You hold my lot. The measuring lines [boundaries] have fallen for me in pleasant places. Yes, my inheritance is delightful for me.
