Revere My Sanctuary

“You shall keep my Sabbaths, and you shall revere my sanctuary; I am Yahweh.”

Leviticus 26:2

Sanctuary is the Hebrew word “miqdash”, meaning sacred place. It is a space especially set aside and marked off as holy by God. When you see this verse, what is the picture that comes to mind? We may picture a chapel, a cathedral, or even the Temple that was in Jerusalem. When the Lord gave this instruction, none of those things existed. The sanctuary was a tent that Yahweh appointed as His special meeting place, His miqdash.

Does Yahweh still have sacred places? Absolutely! Just as He schedules appointed times (moadim), He arranges and sets aside sacred places (miqdash). His Sabbaths are appointments we must keep and His sanctuaries are spaces we must revere. Your heart is a sacred space. Your mind is a sacred space. Your body is a sacred space. Your home is a sacred space.

Also, Yahweh continues consecrating places in which to gather His children to meet with Him. Wellspring moved to a new location as of this past Sunday. Previously to us being there, it was an event space. Now it is a sacred space because we worshiped God there and revered His presence. Be mindful and respectful of His sanctuaries.

Seeking His face!
