This past weekend I shared a message (One Body Under One Head) about living under the headship of Jesus, both individually and corporately as the church . This is essential in our present reformation. Jesus is one head over His one body. And He prayed to the Father before His crucifixion that His followers for all generations would become one just as He and Father are one. Those two words “just as” are profound for us. Our unity is not a lesser version or cheap copy. The unity for which we were designed is miraculous and supernatural in nature, just like the Trinity. No human effort of agenda can create such unity, and yet that is the intention and design of Jesus Christ.
Obviously, I was chewing on this a lot before I shared the message on Saturday, but I haven’t stopped thinking about it continually every day. How will we become one? Jesus is the only way. He has to be central and Lord in each of our lives so that we can come together under Him. There is no way except through Him.
“yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”
1 Corinthians 8:6 ESV
All things are from and exist for God the Father, and all things are through and and exist through our Lord Jesus Christ. Everything about my life is for and from Father and through Jesus. All that I am and do is THROUGH Jesus. Jesus is the single focus of our lives, and then we live THROUGH Him. This should increase your understanding of when Paul said (1 Corinthians 2:2), “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”
The Greek word for “know” means “seeing that becomes perceiving”. Lock all of your attention on Jesus alone, give Him all of your awareness and behold Him in order to perceive Him. He will become more and more clear to you and His mind will become more and more accessible to you.
Jesus said (Matthew 6:22-23), “If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.” The focus of your eyes fills your body. You are filled by your focus! Why do we operate in the flesh? Because we focus on the flesh. Why do we operate in the spiritual? We focus on the spiritual. How do we live through Jesus?

I function from Jesus.
This is the truth for each of us individually and for us as the church. If we’re all focused on, filled with, and functioning from Jesus, we will come into supernatural unity and oneness under His headship. MAKE JESUS YOUR FOCUS NOW, TODAY, AND FOREVER!
Luna and I had a really good conversation on our weekly podcast, Higher Ramblings. Originally we were talking about a popular movement of young people leaving the church, called “Deconstructing Faith”. But as we were talking we quickly realized that the issue is not the people hurting and leaving. The heart of the issue is an overall lack of Jesus Christ in the equation. He’s not the overarching focus of most “churches”, He’s not the main focus of the people in the “churches”, and He’s not the focus of those leaving. It’s time for us to repent from operating and building on the foundation of self-interest. Watch our conversation HERE.
