One of the great traps of our modern culture, is the arrogant notion that we have the ability to redefine truth. As the lie of evolution has intermingled its way into every aspect of life and thought, we actually have embraced the idea that we are smarter and better than previous generations; therefore, the definitions of the past do not apply to us and we have the responsibility to redevelop language, logic, and foundational principles. We desire to recreate in our own image. It doesn’t matter if it makes sense to you or anyone else. With extreme pride we declare, “This is MY truth.”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 ESV
Do you believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, and do you recognize that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and the only path to Father God? Also, Jesus said that He would send to His disciples the Spirit of truth who would guide them into all truth (John 16:13). Do you believe that Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth? Jesus is truth and Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. That means that anything that we consider truth is founded in the person of Jesus and developed through Holy Spirit. We are not the source of truth, nor is anything else in creation. Everything that is fabricated outside of Jesus and Holy Spirit is actually a cheap, cheap, cheap counterfeit of truth. We have no truth outside of Jesus. The phrase “this is my truth” is blind narcissism and absolute foolishness. Do you want to know truth? Truth is a person and His name is Jesus Christ.
This past Saturday we discussed how the Lord is shaking up the nations in order to wake up His church. The true church is going to awaken from this shaking that is presently going on, and the true church is not going to be defined by the world but by the One who holds the schematics. And it will not operate under the fear of man but filled with the Holy Spirit that is wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2). This coming Saturday, we’re going back to the original use of the Greek word “ekklésia”. We’re going to study Greek history in order to better understand why Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the New Testament to use this word 114 times in describing the Kingdom assembly. Last week we talked about how the word “ekklésia” comes from a compound of “ek”, meaning “out from and to” and “kaléō”, meaning “to call”. The Church of Jesus Christ is an assembly or gathering of people who have been called out from the world and called to the Kingdom of God. Next time we meet, we’re going to add another level of understanding to this definition and we’re going to discover it’s design to govern.
Church, get ready!
